LA's own: Subee Djinn comes to the IE to give us their secrets on creative dance and incredible improv!Improv Tribal Trade-Off: Mixing It Up :: 12:30-2:30 pm **If you: love how ATS looks, but you're tired of its predictable vocabulary... Then this workshop is for you!!! In this class, you will learn the rudiments of complimentary improv, organic cueing, leader variations, and damage control (regarding that pesky cue-missing!). This workshop is for those with intermediate/advanced skills in ATS/improv tribal bellydance. Take Creative License! Building a Plot :: 3:00-5:00 pm From the duo that brought you "Tortoise & Hare" and "Sleepwalk", you'll learn techniques for using music, choreography and staging to manifest a plot. You bring the creative spice your and your unique dance strengths; we'll provide the groundwork and critique for developing your vignette. All dance levels are welcome.

Oakland's original Urban Fusion innovator, Frederique David, comes to the IE! Don't miss this incredible opportunity to learn from one of Tribal Bellydance's Hottest performers! Two days of workshops, one hot show!! Saturday, October 4 Workshops: New ‘Urban Tribal Style' Moves (Always Evolving): Skill Level 2 :: 12:30-2:30 pm Want to add to your tribal vocabulary? Learn new moves with the ATS concept of lead and follow developed with non-verbal cues. Frédérique has created new Urban Tribal moves that have been inspired by a variety of ancient and modern dances with fundamental roots in ATS and Cabaret stylized belly dance. Class will begin with elementary yoga / pilates based stretches / exercises, ending with isometric upper body strengthening that will help develop excellent upper body posture for dancing as well as our daily life. Be prepared to focus on strong technique throughout the class. By the end we will all be dancing new tribal moves together, as a tribe. *Prior knowledge in ATS is recommended but not necessary. Frédérique will go over this concept in class. Gooey Pops: Skill Level 2-3 :: 3:00-5:00 pm Wanna learn the fundamentals in pop 'n lock? This class will guide and drill you through the fundamentals in applying pop 'n locks to gooey movements and how to combine them in an improvisational performance. These exercises will build muscle memory in order to apply the nuances, details, tempo change and most importantly, control you need for the deed. Sunday, October 5 Workshop: Charm Arms: Skill Level 2 :: 10:30 am-12:30 pm Learn Frédérique's individual and unique approach with arms, upper-body gesticulation, and more importantly, exploration to find your own style. Arms are your opportunity to apply your manner, personality, and expression through dance. Often the focus are on hips and abdominals in your belly dance training. In the workshop, it will be all arms with torso, shoulders, and head subtleties for defined or refined expression, and let's not forget the final frontier in dance expertise...hands, right down to your finger tips. Frédérique has many details to share with you on hand and finger placement with a relaxed feel and look. In this workshop, we will work on obtaining elegance, grace, pose, and polishing your individual style. Strengthening, emotional expression, and drills specifically developed and designed by Frédérique for the this task will be the class focus and content.

Now Serving: Fun Combos for ALL! :: 12:30-2:30 pm Add a little flavor to your ATS buffet with Heather Shoopman's hiphop inspired tribal fusion combos. In the beginning dance was used for the purpose of worship and healing, a way to connect with spirit, your higher self and all of humanity. Join Heather on an inner journey to promote spiritual awakening, mental clarity, physical stamina and emotional well-being. You will experience meditation in motion with breathwork, guided trance dance techniques, and partner exercises in a safe environment. You will leave feeling rejuvenated, inspired and loved!!!
